🇫🇷 DELF A2
If you've passed A1 or already feel comfortable with basic French, here's what the DELF A2 exam looks like: the same 4-section format as A1, slightly longer and faster. Already preparing A1? See the full DELF A1 examen blanc first.
| Section | In English | Duration | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compréhension de l'oral | Listening comprehension | ~25 min | 25 |
| Compréhension des écrits | Reading comprehension | 30 min | 25 |
| Production écrite | Writing | 45 min | 25 |
| Production orale | Speaking | 6–8 min (+ prep) | 25 |
Pass mark: 50/100 overall, minimum 5/25 per section — identical rule to A1, just with longer, slightly faster material.
“Nous organisons une sortie au parc samedi matin, départ 9h30 devant la mairie. Pensez à apporter de l'eau et un pique-nique.”
Typical questions: When and where is the meeting point? What should participants bring? A2 reading uses slightly longer texts than A1, but still everyday, concrete documents.
“Vous écrivez à un ami pour lui raconter votre dernier week-end et lui proposer de se retrouver la semaine prochaine.”
A2 writing expects around 60–80 words, with simple past and future forms.
Interview about yourself, a cue-card exchange, and a short simulated dialogue — the same 3-part structure as A1, with slightly more open-ended exchanges.
DELF A2 is the second official CEFR level diploma in French, for learners who can handle simple everyday exchanges and routine tasks, one step above A1.
Same rule as every DELF level: 50/100 overall across 4 sections of 25 points each, with a minimum of 5/25 required in every individual section.
A2 texts and conversations are a bit longer and faster, writing tasks are longer (around 60-80 words instead of 40-50), and speaking includes a short simple conversation on familiar topics instead of only a guided interview.
