Ma ville (Aller + Contractions)
The irregular verb aller and how à contracts with le/les to form au/aux.
CONTRACTIONS WITH À: mandatory in French, cannot be avoided

RULE: À + LES = AUX (always): Je parle aux étudiants (I speak to the students). Il pense aux vacances (he thinks about the holidays). Pronounced /o/: the X is silent normally but makes liaison before vowels: aux enfants (to the children).
NO CONTRACTION with: à + la (stays 'à la'): Je vais à la banque. (I'm going to the bank.) À + proper names: Je vais à Paris (I'm going to Paris) (not 'au Paris')
PLACES THAT TAKE 'AU': au cinéma (at the cinema), au restaurant (at the restaurant), au marché (at the market), au bureau (at the office), au travail (at work), au stade (at the stadium), au musée (at the museum), au café (at the café), au parc (at the park)
